United By Blue aims to collect one million pounds of trash in 2019

This was the target set by Brian Linton when he founded the company in 2010. Its activities have so far helped to remove nearly 1.5 million pounds (nearly 700,000 kilogrammes) of trash. It has organised more than 250 clean-ups since 2010, which have taken place across all mainland US states, Canada and Europe.
Its 2019 Waterway Clean-up Tour will get underway in Chicago in April. After passing through cities like Washington, Seattle and San Francisco, it will end on December 7 in Los Angeles. Each stop coincides with a national conservation day. It wants to collect one million pounds of trash in 2019.
Five clean-ups will also take place in Philadelphia, the brand’s home city. They will focus on illegal dumpsites.
“In 2019, we’re setting off on a nationwide Waterway Clean-up Tour, bringing the mission side of our business directly to the customers that support us,” said Maria McDonald, UBB clean-up programme coordinator. “The purpose of this Tour is to educate and engage our following, and invite them to take part in our mission alongside us.”
She added that in each city UBB will work with local conservation groups and businesses in order to amplify the world already being done in the area.
