Inaugural African American Footwear Forum takes place

The African American Footwear Forum (AAFF), a new organisation that seeks to enhance access, education, and awareness for African Americans who are seeking opportunities in the global footwear industry, held an inaugural Forum and Celebration event for its members in Washington DC in mid-February.

Two organisations, the Footwear Distributors and Retailers of America and the Pensole Footwear Design Academy, combined to organise the forum and the event included a panel discussion involving ten successful African American footwear designers and entrepreneurs, with Pensole founder D’Wayne Edwards moderating the session.

Brands represented among the speakers included Under Armour, Nike, adidas and New Balance.
