Cotton Australia contributes to Google ‘inventions’ exhibition

Cotton Australia has contributed to an online exhibition organised by Google called Once Upon A Try. The focus of the exhibition is inventions and discoveries and Cotton Australia is one of 110 institutions in 23 countries to have contributed.

Chief executive, Adam Kay, said Cotton Australia’s inclusion is based on its work to transform cotton production. He explained: “The Australian cotton industry is a world leader in the application of emerging technologies, both in research and development, and on farm, so it made sense for us to use the Google platform to share the incredible gains our industry is making.”

He pointed out that most people will never have the opportunity to visit an Australian cotton farm and see first-hand how farmers there apply technology such as biotechnology to reduce pesticide use, smart sensors to assess soil health, solar-powered pumps and driverless robotic weed-seekers.

“Our online exhibition brings Australian cotton farming to the world,” Mr Kay said.
