New platform for sustainable rubber holds first meeting

28/03/2019
The Global Platform for Sustainable Natural Rubber (GPSNR), an independent body that aims to lead improvements in the socio-economic and environmental performance of the natural rubber value chain, held its inaugural general assembly meeting in Singapore on March 21.

Rubber suppliers and processors, along with tyre manufacturers, have most representation on GPSNR, but its work will also be of interest to other downstream users of natural rubber, including athletic footwear companies.

At the meeting GPSNR appointed its first executive committee.

Respect for human rights, preventing land-grabbing and deforestation, protecting biodiversity and water resources, improving yields, and increasing supply chain transparency and traceability are the organisation’s top priorities.
