Sports group adidas achieved revenues of almost €5.9 billion in the first quarter of 2019. This represents an increase year on year of 6%.

On announcing the results, chief executive, Kasper Rorsted, said: “We had a successful start to the year, delivering double-digit sales increases in strategic growth areas, China and e-commerce.”

Growth of 16% in China compared to the first quarter of 2018 helped adidas reach revenues of just over €2.1 billion in Asia, making this its strongest market. Revenues in Europe were down by 3.3% to €1.5 billion. The figure for North America was €1.1 billion, an increase of 11.2%.
