Conference on cellulosic fibres to launch in 2020

28/06/2019
German research and consultancy group nova-Institute has announced plans to launch a new event dedicated to cellulosic fibres.

The first ‘International Conference on Cellulose Fibres – Technologies, Application and Sustainability in Textiles’ will take place from February 11-12, 2020 in Cologne.

The organisers have said it will cover the entire value chain of cellulosic fibres from lignocellulosic feedstock and dissolving pulp, to applications like woven textiles for clothing and non-wovens. It will also address micro- and nanocellulose for food, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals.

The aim of the conference is to stimulate discussion between technology providers and developers, academia and industry, pulp, fibre and equipment suppliers, retailers, textile brands, policy makers and investors.

Among the topics that will be addressed are market trends, the main challenges to developing value chains, innovation, and the impact of the debate over microplastic pollution.

Announcing the launch of the conference, Michael Carus, CEO of nova-Institute, said: “With regard to the importance of cellulose fibres, it is more than surprising that there is no established conference with this focus yet in Europe. We are now closing this gap; for the first time, we will invite and gather all developers, producers and players in the value chain of modern cellulose fibres.”

He added that he expects there to be strong international interest in the event and that it will provide excellent networking opportunities for those within this sector.
