The US’s National Golf Federation (NGF) has said participation in golf increased there last year for the first time since 2003.

It said 24.2 million people played at least one round of golf in 2018 and that 23 million people hit golf balls at driving ranges and indoor simulation centres, adding that this figure also represented an increase compared to 2017.

NGF estimated that 2.6 million people played on a golf course for the first time last year and that this is close to historical highs. It has also calculated that 14.7 million non-golfers are “very interested” in playing golf.
