Italian maker and supplier of graphene-based products Directa Plus has secured a patent in the US for its G+ process for manufacturing graphene using water-based technology.

Founder and chief executive, Giulio Cesareo, described the process as a sustainable and environmentally friendly way to make graphene nanoplatelets, which the company can then adapt to the specific requirements of different end users, including textile companies and clothing brands.

“This patent represents a key step forward in launching our products in the US market,” Mr Cesareo said. “The sustainable nature of our production process (with no chemicals) and the possibility to offer large quantities, consistent quality and attractive prices to large supply chains are the cornerstones of our market strategy.”
