Host nation launches official shirt for 2019 Rugby World Cup
Sports brand Canterbury has unveiled the new shirt it has designed for host nation, Japan, at the 2019 Rugby World Cup. The competition kicks off in Tokyo on September 20 and ends with the final in Yokohama on November 2.

Canterbury’s design incorporates the Japanese national rugby team’s cherry blossom logo and graphics “embedding Japanese patriotism into the fibres of the jersey and heart of the wearer”.

As well as the team’s tradition red-and-white hoops, these graphics include samurai helmets to symbolise, Canterbury has said, “the fighting spirit of the Japanese people”, and traditional Kisshyo patterns to promote good luck.

The shirt uses the brand’s proprietary VapoDri quick drying, breathable, moisture-wicking material.
