NFC-enabled helmets can communicate on cyclists’ behalf, POC says

Swedish protective equipment brand POC has introduced two new cycling helmets that have near field communication (NFC) technology integrated into them.

POC said that having NFC-enabled helmets could enhance user safety and protection. For example, wearers will be able to use the technology to store their medical profiles in the helmets.

According to POC, this means the helmets, the Tectal Race SPIN NFC and the Ventral Air SPIN NFC, would be able to communicate this information on a rider’s behalf in the event of an accident.
