Chinese sports brand Li Ning increased its first-half revenues by more than 30%, achieving sales of around $890 million at current exchange rates. Its profits before tax amounted to around $440 million, almost 50% up on the figure for the first half of 2018.

The group said it had continued to focus on its five core categories, namely basketball, running, fitness, badminton and sports casual, during the first six months of 2019. It said it had also continued its efforts to build up knowledge of sports science within the company and to apply this knowledge to its product design.

Founder and executive chairman (and former Olympic athlete) Li Ning, said he was confident about the long-term development of the company. “We will continue to focus on our products,” he said. “We will devote resources to sports knowledge learning, technological research and development.”

At the end of June, Li Ning had more than 6,400 points of sale across China.
