Riga event to gauge textile circular economy progress

04/09/2019
A one-day event that will take place in the Latvian capital, Riga, on September 9 will aim to keep up the Nordic and Baltic region of Europe’s momentum on adopting circular economy principles in the textile industry.

At the end of last year, an event took place in Talinn, Estonia, that aimed to kick-off Nordic-Baltic co-operation in collecting and reusing post-consumer textile waste. The Riga event is a follow-up to this.
Speakers from the Baltics and other European countries will discuss textile waste and European Union requirements for improving the collection of textile waste from 2025.

A wider conference with the title ‘Circular economy in the Nordic-Baltic region: how far have we come?’ will take place the following day in Riga. The Nordic Council of Ministers, the official body for inter-governmental co-operation in the region, has given financial backing to this textile industry initiative.
