a press conference at ISPO in Munich on January 27.
Xpore will come to market through the group’s BenQ Materials division in what the group has called “new breakthroughs in fabrics for waterproof breathability and anti-bacterial protection”.
At the core of Xpore, the company has explained, is a membrane with 10 billion nanopores every 2.5 square-centimetres. These pores are 20,000 times smaller than water droplets to keep out moisture from the external environment but are large enough for airflow and water vapour from the body to pass through.
The new membrane technology has received critical SGS and ITS certifications, BenQ said. ISO certification has been approved and applications for Bluesign and Oeko-Tex for factory facilities are in progress.
