Two fabrics from Dyntex combine durability and sustainability

Austria-based Dyntex has developed a pair of biosynthetic fabrics said to be ultralight (38 gr/m2), breathable, water-repellent and durable.

The first, Dyntex Biodegradable, uses polyamide Amni Soul Eco to produce an ultralight yarn. At the end of its lifespan, according to the company, the material can be completely biodegraded by bacteria in a landfill environment.

The second, Dyntex Biological Origin, is said to be entirely bio-based while remaining highly technical. A bio-polymer extracted from the castor oil plant is used to produce the yarn. The castor oil plant, the company said, is a sustainable raw material because it grows in arid, nutrient-poor soil, requires little water and is not edible.

According to Dyntex, these biosynthetic fabrics set “new standards for athletic, outdoor and active lifestyle clothing made from environmentally friendly functional textiles”.
