Cumbrian businesses team up on children’s waterproof outerwear

Two small businesses based in Cumbria, England, have joined up to create a waterproof “drench” suit for children.

Mountain Method makes waterproof jackets and overtrousers for all ages, while Kiddunk makes a range of apparel specifically for children. Together the two companies have designed a two-part set made with a cotton feel woven fabric, said to offer waterproof protection and breathability. The zippable suit is EN343 Class 3:3 and 100% polyamide.

Don’t be fooled, this is no splash suit,” Kiddunk said in announcing the launch. “This little number is the ultimate is outdoor gear for kids serious about outdoor play.”

Fiona Butcher, founder of Mountain Method, and Kiddunk founder Lisa Joyce told a local newspaper the two met at an industry event and decided to work together to develop the waterproof range. Named ‘Mizzle’ in a nod to the Cumbrian weather that inspired it, the range sold out within days of being launched.
