A senior Scottish Government minister recently toured the Scottish Leather Group’s Bridge of Weir Leather site in Renfrewshire, Scotland, where he praised the group for its products and Brexit strategy.

During his tour, according to local media, the minister, Derek Mackay, learned of the approximately 20,000 hides a week that SLG manufactures for brands such as Aston Martin, Ford, Jaguar Land Rover — about 80% of which go to some 30 countries around the world.

Mr Mackay said he was encouraged to see demand for Scottish products rise, and that improving export performance was critical to Scotland’s economic growth as businesses prepare to meet the challenges posed by Brexit.
