After the success of a sleeve version of the same technology, the Wave Company is using Kickstarter to launch performance apparel that achieves the effect of kinesiology taping.

WaveWear incorporates a thin, elastic material called BWAS (Bio Waved Adhesive Silicone), which is said to have enough adhesive strength for the taping effect while remaining elastic and durable.

Resistant to sweat and washable, the apparel is said to help ease tension of muscles to stabilise joints, prevent injury and improve posture.

The brand behind the product says it also reduces muscle fatigue as much as 35% and reduces lactic acid by the same.

A body mapped system provides taping to support back muscles, spine and the shoulders, while shoulder taping helps prevent frozen shoulders, the company said, and back taping can reduce pain and improve posture.

According to the campaign, the lower body, knee and thigh taping supports the patella and secures to prevent injuries, and calf taping was inspired by the varicose vein kinesiology taping method for swollen leg relief.

With 26 days to go, the Kickstarter campaign has far surpassed its initial goal of around $6500, by bringing in more than $47,000.
