Liquid Wire closes $10m for stretchable electronics technologies to medical wearables

Liquid Wire, which produces pliable electronic circuits to be printed on plastic and textile substrates, has closed a $10 million Series A financing round to expand its stretchable electronics technologies into the medical wearables market. The financing was led by Deerfield Management Company.

The company said that by more closely matching the material properties of human skin, its circuitry allows comfortable, long-term contact of sensors and data transmission electronics for on-body, remote monitoring, addressing, for example, safety wear and performance sports apparel.

The funding will allow the company to expand its pilot manufacturing line, based in Portland, Oregon, and make key hires to address the medical patch market.

The platform “has broad potential to expand the form and function of new digital solutions that are key to advancing remote clinical monitoring and management,” said Deerfield partner Steven Hochberg.
