Specialty chemicals company Lanxess has appointed Marcel Beermann as head of the procurement and logistics group function, effective June 1. He succeeds Frederique van Baarle, who will become head of the high performance materials business unit on the same date.

Mr Beermann (pictured) is currently head of marketing and sales for high-performance plastics for the company’s Europe, Middle East and Africa region.

“Over the past one and a half years, Marcel Beermann has been able to further deepen his profound understanding of the markets and players in the chemical industry in a leading position in our operational business," said Hubert Fink, member of the Lanxess board of management.

Prior to joining the chemicals company in 2005, Mr Beermann was a member of the corporate finance team at Dresdner Bank AG, advising international clients on corporate transactions. He began his time at Lanxess in the mergers & acquisitions group, which he headed for more than ten years from 2008.
