Tech and ink companies team up on wirelessly-powered e-textiles

According to the two Pennsylvania-based companies, manufacturers can use Liquid X’s particle-free ink technology — which includes Powercast’s radio-frequency (RF) wireless receiving antenna — to print circuitry directly onto a garment. Then, Powercast’s wireless power technology and a battery is added, and all is sealed into a garment.
Customers will be able to recharge wirelessly and wash the garment without removing the battery pack.
The aim of the technology, the companies said, is to enable cost-effective manufacturing of durable etextiles, with a range of applications in health and wellness; for example, movement monitoring or LED-based illumination embedded directly into garments.
