Tanzania’s minister of agriculture said higher prices for cotton have led the country’s farmers to increase cultivation, potentially doubling production in five years.

As reported by BloombergQuint, Japhet Hasunga said output for the 2020-21 season is expected to increase to 400,000 metric tons from 348,882 tons in 2019-20. The government’s goal, the report said, is to increase cotton production to 1 million metric tons by 2024-25.
