Handball shoe project took Decathlon two years to complete

After two years of development, sporting goods manufacturing and retail group Decathlon has launched two new shoe styles specifically for handball players. The shoes are additions to the group’s Atorka label, an in-house brand dedicated to handball.

The shoes are the H900 Stronger and the H900 Faster, allowing players to prioritise steadiness or speed.

At the start of the two-year development period, Decathlon worked with 70 handball players to come up with a design brief for the shoes. Teams visited manufacturing partners in Vietnam four times before the project was complete.

After this, 25 handball players wore the shoes in tests before the launch of the products earlier in July.
