Outdoor brand reaffirms stance against throwaway society
Outdoor brand Vaude has announced a new method of measuring from product development stage the repairability of its products.
It said on making the announcement that the new idea, the Repair Index, will help strengthen its focus on repairability and reaffirm the brand’s stance “against a throwaway society”.
Chief executive, Antje von Dewitz, said: “Our products should have a long service life and be repairable.”
The index introduces a points system that will allow Vaude to see from the outset how repairable a product will be, allowing it to consider modifications to design, material selection and processing technologies to increase repairability.
