UK sports apparel and equipment retailer Sports Direct has opened a 51,000 square foot space in Northern Island. This will be the brand’s 19th store in Northern Ireland, according to the Irish Times, and one of its biggest in the country.

The megastore will sell USC clothing brand, which is also owned by Sports Direct’s parent company Frasers Group, and products by Game, the video game retailer Frasers acquired last year. There will also be what’s called a “Belong” gaming arena, which is a social space for competitive gamers with seating for 24.

Peter Murray, manager of the Buttercrane shopping centre in which the Sports Direct is opening, was quoted calling the opening a “huge vote of confidence in the high street”.
