Amer Sports CEO hands over the reins
Finland-based sports group Amer Sports, whose brands include Arc’teryx, Salomon, Wilson and Peak Performance, has announced the resignation of chief executive, Heikki Takala.
Mr Takala, who had held the position for ten years, said he would continue his involvement in the group by actings as a special advisor to the board.
In 2019, Chinese group Anta Sports became the controlling shareholder of Amer Sports. Anta executive vice-president, James Zheng, is to take over as Amer chief executive. He will be supported by Michael Hauge Sorensen in the newly created post of chief operating officer.
Commenting on these changes, James Zhang said the focus was on accelerating the growth of Amer’s business and brands. He said: “The company has come out of the period of covid-19 uncertainty and is in a solid position from which to embark on the exciting next phase of growth.”
