Optimism in Brazilian cotton sector

Cotton industry associations in Brazil have said the industry there has much to be optimistic about.
In recent comments on the occasion of World Cotton Day on October 7, industry figures in Brazil said the South American country was the fourth largest producer of cotton globally, with expectations that the forthcoming harvest would yield 2.9 million tonnes of fibre.

They said Brazil was also the second-biggest exporter of cotton in the world and a “champion” of certified sustainable cotton. They said 77% of Brazil’s total output was certified as sustainable cotton and that this gave the country a 36% share of all cotton in this category globally.
