Rieter backs Brazilian start-up’s idea for optimising spinning
Textile machinery developer Rieter has secured a licence agreement to incorporate software from a Brazilian start-up into its Essential suite of digital spinning tools.
Founded in 2016, the start-up technology provider, WW Systems, has developed a software system called OptCotton. Rieter has said that OptCotton is the only software system in the world that allows users to achieve an even blend of cotton for the spinning process.
On announcing the licence agreement on November 5, Rieter said: “Unlike any other system on the market today, OptCotton eliminates variations in quality between cotton blends that are being prepared for the spinning process. In this way, standardised quality yarn can be produced efficiently in the spinning process. From the arrival of the bales in the warehouse to their use in the blow-room line, OptCotton manages the entire blending process with no need for categorisation. This results in increased efficiency in storage and logistics as well as machine performance.”
It said that access to bale-related fibre data and raw material information would open up new possibilities for mills in controlling spinning, optimising the entire spinning process and raising “digital intelligence to a new level”.
