Basque brand opts for PrimaLoft Bio

Basque outdoor brand Ternua has used PrimaLoft Bio insulation in part of its autumn-winter 2020 collection.

The collection includes a line called Whales Spirit. Ternua takes its name from the Basque word for Newfoundland in tribute to the links with that part of North America, established by intrepid whalers from the Basque Country around five centuries ago. It also supports whale conservation projects.

It has described Whales Spirit as a line of garments for “an urban tribe with a sustainable soul”, people who are looking for elegant and sustainable garments that will protect them from the cold, wind and rain in their day-to-day life.

After years of working with the insulation materials provider, Ternua chose to use PrimaLoft Bio in this latest range of garments. Launched in 2018 after four years’ development work, PrimaLoft Bio is the first synthetic insulation made from 100% recycled fibres with a high level of biodegradability.

Ternua said its use of PrimaLoft Bio represented a further step towards its goal of creating 100% sustainable and biodegradable clothing.
