Recovery in orders continues for Rieter

27/01/2021

Textile machinery manufacturer Rieter has said its order intake in the fourth quarter of 2020 suggests that the recovery in the global textile industry that it saw in the third quarter of the year has continued.

In the last quarter of 2020, Rieter received orders with a value of 215.1 million Swiss francs.

This meant the total value of orders for new short-staple fibre spinning machinery and other technology was 640.2 million Swiss francs, a fall of 31% compared to the figure for 2019. Rieter attributed this to a “slump in demand in the second quarter” as factories in many parts of the world closed in response to the covid-19 pandemic.

The company said it expects the pandemic to continue to affect its results in the first half of 2021.
