Sports retail chain JD Sports has confirmed that it has it entered into a conditional agreement to acquire a Baltimore-based athletic footwear and apparel retailer, DTLR Villa.

The UK group will acquire 100% of DTLR; it said the deal would cost $495 million.

DTLR was originally named Downtown Locker Room. In 2017, it merged with Sneaker Villa Inc (a retailer that was formerly based in Philadelphia). It operates 247 stores across 19 states, principally in the north and east of the US.

On making the announcement, the executive chairman of JD Sports, Peter Cowgill, said this deal would be “another exciting milestone” in the group’s development in the US.
