Competitive climbing is back
The International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) has confirmed that the inaugural competition of its 2021 season will take place as scheduled in Meiringen, Switzerland, on April 16 and 17.
This mountain village in the Swiss Alps has a longstanding tradition of organising the opening World Cup event of the season. This tradition was interrupted last year by the covid-19 pandemic. IFSC said it was excited to be able to confirm the event for 2021.
It said it was working closely with the Swiss Alpine Club and local authorities to guarantee “the safest possible environment for athletes, team officials, judges, route-setters, volunteers and all the parties involved”.
