Strong first quarter for Foot Locker

24/05/2021

Specialist athletic footwear retail group Foot Locker has announced sales revenues of over $2.1 billion for the first quarter of its current business year, the three-month period ending May 1, 2021.

This figure represents an increase of 83% year on year. Foot Locker pointed out that revenues were also up by 3.6% compared to its results for the first quarter in 2019.

Chief executive, Dick Johnson, said he was “extremely pleased” with the company’s performance, compared not only to last year’s “heavily covid-impacted first quarter”, but also relative to pre-pandemic results.

He said the merchandise offering Foot Locker had presented to consumers had resonated well.
As of May 1, 2021, the company had 2,952 stores in 27 countries in North America, Europe, Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. In addition, 131 franchised Foot Locker stores were operating in the Middle East.
