Surprise headline-grabbing winner among UEFA 2020 kit suppliers

The largest sports event since the onset of the global pandemic will kick off on June 11 and run for a month. It’s the European football championship postponed from last year, Euro 2020.

Twenty-four national teams will compete for the trophy, which will be awarded after the final in London on July 11.

Nike will be the most widely represented kit supplier, with nine teams wearing its shirts and shorts, pipping rivals adidas, with eight teams, and Puma with four.

Three brands will have one team each at the event: Hummel is the kit supplier for its home national team, Denmark, while North Macedonia, taking part in the tournament for the first time, has German brand Jako as its supplier.

In the build-up to the start of the championship, the shirt that created most headlines was one that Spanish brand Joma designed for the national team of Ukraine. As part of the design, Joma incorporated the outline of a map of Ukraine. This includes territories on the Crimean Peninsula and in the Donbass region that are the subject of ongoing dispute between Ukraine and the Russian Federation.
