The Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI), which gauges the condition of the manufacturing sector, based on surveys of local manufacturers, gave Indonesia a score of 54.6 in April, up from 53.2 in March. A PMI above 50 indicates expansion. Indonesia’s figure for April is a new high.
Information provider IHS said Indonesian manufacturing was ramping up because there was a strong expansion in new orders.
