Price increase for key plastics ingredients

With immediate effect, chemicals manufacturer BASF is increasing the prices of several key ingredients for plastics, including polyurethane and elastane fibres. The price rises affect its customers in Europe.

It is increasing the price of 1,4-Butanediol (BDO) by €400 per tonne, while the price of tetrahydrofuran (THF) and of polytetramethylene ether glycol will go up by €700 per tonne.

For N-Methyl-2-Pyrrolidone (NMP), the price increase is even steeper, at €1,000 per tonne.
