Important Italian milestone for Freudenberg
Production has begun on a new competence centre that technical textiles developer Freudenberg Performance Materials is building in Italy.
The new factory, which will be located in Sant’Omero in the Abruzzo region, will produce finishing and coating base material for the apparel industry.
At the start of this year, Freudenberg announced its plan to set up two separate competence centres in Europe. In addition to the new site in Italy, its headquarters in Weinheim in Germany will be the location of a competence centre that will focus on base material for interlinings. It will transport equipment for producing finishing and coating base material from Weinheim to Sant’Omero when the new site is ready.
Freudenberg Performance Materials’ general manager for apparel in Europe, Dr Hannah Koeppen, said the start of construction at Sant’Omero was an important milestone for the group.
