Plant-based nylon fibre from Toray
Polymers group Toray has developed a nylon 510 (N510) fibre that incorporates 100% ‘biobased synthetic polymer content’ as defined by the ISO 16620-1: 2015 standard. It will add the N510 fibre to its Ecodear range, which it offers as sustainable options for high-end brands.
Toray said fabrics for sports and outdoor would be the primary applications for the product. It said it would be able to make 3 tonnes of this fabric per month by March 2024.
