WFSGI emerges strongly from 2021

31/01/2022

The World Federation of the Sporting Goods Industry (WFSGI) has said that, despite another year impacted by the pandemic, it has “emerged strongly” from 2021 and is optimistic about a successful 2022.

In the course of last year, the Bern-based organisation welcomed eight new member companies and two new partners.

Its new members are 4iiii Innovations, Champion Europe, Cycleurope Sverige, LMK International, Mavic Group, Riese & Müller GmbH, Trend Power Technology and Pivot Cycles.

One major achievement already in 2022 is a report on the state of the sporting goods industry which WFSGI published with professional services company McKinsey in late January.

This report covers adjustments in consumer behaviour, developments in social media and e-commerce, the reshaping of distribution channels, new supply chain strategies and an acceleration in the demand from consumers for sound sustainability strategies and genuinely sustainable products from sports brands.

We will cover the last of these themes, as presented in the WFSGI-McKinsey report, in a detailed article in the forthcoming issue of WSA magazine.
