Outdoor industry entrepreneur Nick Brown is stepping back from the two businesses he founded and has run until now.

Both companies, aftercare and waterproofing solutions brand Nikwax and outdoor garment brand Páramo, will now become employee-owned, with each having its own employee ownership trust (EOT) to hold a shareholding in a company on trust for the benefit of the employees. 

Nick Brown said that passing the businesses to their employees (“now partners”) was a way of looking after them and looking after customers too.

One percent of the annual turnover of both companies will be donated to social and environmental initiatives.
