Indorama makes rPET investment in the Czech Republic

Fibre manufacturer Indorama Ventures has announced that it will acquire an 85% stake in UCY Polymers, a company based in the Czech Republic that specialises in recycling post-consumer PET into recycled polyethylene terephthalate flakes.

UCY currently has the capacity to produce 40,000 tonnes of rPET flakes per year.

Indorama said this acquisition was a strategic fit, describing it as part of a wider strategy to secure feedstock for its rPET footprint in Europe and across the world. The group said it is committed to increasing its recycling capacity to 750,000 tonnes per year by 2025. 

It will pay €6.8 million in cash for its investment in UCY.
