Fashion brand opens up online design tool to all

Amsterdam-based textile innovation brand Byborre is to open up access to an online design tool to “anyone who works or wants to work with textiles”.

It launched the tool, Byborre Create, in 2019, but initially access was by invitation only. In this way, the company says it brought hundreds of brands and designers on board.

Now it has said that anyone who wants to work with textiles can have access to its technology, including access to circular knitting machines.

The system allows criteria such as recycled content, savings in carbon emissions and water and elimination of microplastics to feature in designers’ choice of yarns and fibres. Every fabric comes with a textile passport.

Co-founder and chief creative officer, Borre Akkersdijk, said: “To make it possible for anyone, anywhere in the world to create a distinctive knitted textile with this speed and their own company DNA has never been possible before.”
