Brands sign up for ‘boots-dirty’ cotton farm tour
Cotton Australia has invited executives from clothing brands and retailers to abandon their city offices for two days in May to take part in a “boots-dirty farm and industry tour”.
The tour will include visits to two farms in the north-western region of New South Wales. There will also be talks from from researchers, ginners and agronomists.
More than 30 brand representatives and three non-profit organisations focused on fashion and textiles have already signed up to take part, Cotton Australia has said.
It explained that tour would give participants an opportunity to learn more about the Australian cotton fibre most are selling to consumers. It said it wanted those selling Australian cotton products to learn directly from farmers how cotton is picked and grown sustainably.
