Two key ingredients in new Italian fabric line
Italian fabric manufacturer Innova Fabrics has launched a new line called RF (Residual Free), which it says enriches its commitment to responsibility. RF, Innova has said, has the aim of reducing the apparel industry’s discharge of microplastic residues.
In developing the RF line, the Milan-based company has worked closely with two yarn suppliers.
The fabrics, which will go into sports clothing and underwear, use Roica V550 stretch fibre from Asahi Kasei. Part of the Japanese company’s Eco-Smart range, V550 fibres are certified by research body Hohenstein to degrade without releasing harmful substances into the environment.
A second key ingredient is Sensil BioCare nylon 6.6 fibre from Nilit. Any microfibres from Sensil BioCare that are released during washing will decompose at a faster rate than those from conventional nylon 6.6 fibres, Nilit has said.
