New Zealand prime minister celebrates fibre partnership
The prime minister of New Zealand, Jacinda Ardern, has taken part in a formal ceremony in San Francisco to secure a new partnership between The New Zealand Merino Company and Silicon Valley-based technology platform Actual.
The New Zealand Merino Company runs a regenerative fibre platform called ZQRX. This comprises a network of growers working on more than 2 million hectares of land.
Under the new agreement, ZQRX will work with Actual to use a specially designed platform it has designed to help organisations embed sustainability into their business models and meet net-zero corporate pledges.
Jacinda Ardern attended the ceremony with the governor of California, Gavin Newsom. She said the agreement was part of a wider partnership that New Zealand wanted to establish with the state of California to tackle climate change. “The signing of this agreement between ZQRX and Actual is exactly the type of innovation we hope to see,” she said.
