India’s ministry of finance will extend until October an exemption from customs duties of raw cotton imports. It introduced the policy in April.

Cotton industry information resource Cotlook has reported that rumours of this extension circulated inJune and had the effect of making the price of domestically produced cotton “retreat to levels not seen since mid-April”.
