Sports brand New Balance has unveiled a signature shoe it developed with tennis star Coco Gauff.

The current world number-11 wore the shoe, the New Balance Coco CG1, for the first time at an exhibition match in Atlanta in July, but the product will launch officially in the build-up the the US Open at the end of August.

A proprietary FuelCell midsole, aimed at delivering a propulsive feel in a player’s lateral footwork, is one of the features of the shoe. It also has what New Balance calls a sport-specific carbon fibre plate, designed to increase stored energy to return a higher amount of energy to the wearer. A full-length rubber outsole delivers durability and traction for multi court play.
