Golf drives growth for Mizuno
Japanese sports group Mizuno has reported revenues of almost $350 million in the first three months of 2022. On reporting this figure, it said this represented an increase of 7.8% year on year.
Almost 65% of total revenue came from sales in Japan. The Americas was Mizuno’s second-biggest market with 15.3%, while the rest of Asia contributed almost 11% and Europe 9.5%. Europe was the only sales region in which sales were down year on year.
In terms of product category, equipment contributed the most with a 29.8% share of the total, closely followed by apparel with 28.5% and footwear with 26.6%. The rest of the groups revenues came from services and other categories.
Mizuno said its growth had been “driven by golf”, that the performance of its outdoor sports business in general was stable and that the indoor sports category had recovered “from the damage caused by covid-19”.
It said that, compared to the first quarter of 2021, the business climate in Japan was positive.
