Four-year wait over for Australian Cotton Conference
The first Australian Cotton Conference in four years attracted more than 2,000 delegates to Gold Coast. On-site registration opened on August 15, with the conference programme beginning on August 16.
“This conference represents the first opportunity for many growers and industry figures to come together to see the latest technology, discover the results of ground-breaking research, and understand the innovation that will drive the natural fibre to new levels in Australia and worldwide,” Cotton Australia said ahead of the three-day event.
Chief executive, Adam Kay, said Cotton Australia had managed to attract “the best minds in cotton from Australia and around the world” to the conference.
Included in the line-up is global strategist Michael Every from Rabobank, sustainability and stewardship leader, Sunny Verghese from Olam International, and cotton supply and demand specialist Joe Nicosia from Louis Dreyfus.
Soil scientist Dr Oliver Knox was also on the programme, as was Emma Dennis from Better Cotton, Rui Fontoura from Textile Exchange, Elizabeth Keegan from Cotton On, and Leila Naja Hibri from the Australian Fashion Council.
