Performance materials developer BASF has said it will have a concept shoe made entirely from its own material on show at the Simac footwear technology exhibition in Milan from September 20-22.

Other exhibits that the company intends to put on show at Simac include boots that will stay soft even at minus-40 degrees and light and high-rebound soles for safety shoes. It said high-rebound properties guarantee soft dampening effects, while lightweight soles are decisive for comfort.

BASF said it had transferred its knowledge of athletic footwear to safety shoes to produce PU materials that safety footwear manufacturers were looking for.
