Carbon fibre LCA calculations complete for Teijin
Performance materials developer Teijin has completed lifecycle assessment (LCA) calculations for its carbon fibre products, including carbon fibre textiles and short fibres for composites that go into sporting goods and other products.
Following a detailed LCA exercise focusing on its carbon fibre filament manufacturing processes, which it completed in December 2021, Teijin used the information it had gathered to calculate LCAs for all of its carbon fibre filament applications.
It said its calculations have now been certified by an independent third-party organisation, in accordance with the ISO14040 and ISO14044 standards.
Teijin said the information would provide its customers with reliable emissions data regarding intermediate materials and help them evaluate their own environmental footprint.
